As a result of concerns raised by the aged care industry, Urban Strategies was commissioned by Brisbane City Council to review infrastructure charging policy for retirement and residential aged care projects. Urban Strategies found that anomalies were present in the extant infrastructure charging regime and made a range of recommendations aimed at improving fairness and consistency in charging. Council immediately adopted recommendations which waived certain charges for residential aged care and, eventually, reduced charges for retirement living projects.
