Principal Town Planner
Christine is a Principal Town Planner with Urban Strategies, joining the company in 2014. She completed her Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Honours) at the University of Queensland in 1991.
Prior to joining Urban Strategies, Christine gained experience in a variety of strategic, development assessment and special project roles in local government which included facilitating the preparation of planning scheme documents in both Ipswich and Brisbane City Councils, with a particular focus on heritage and local area/neighbourhood planning. She also gained development assessment experience in Brisbane City Council through her role as a coordinator and delegate for teams of planners. These roles broadened her ability to think critically and problem-solve, to engage with and influence a variety of stakeholders (including local communities, elected representatives, developers and professional specialists), and to interpret and apply complex legislation.
Her strong analytical and communication skills and her ability to work independently were recognised through her appointment to special project roles in Brisbane City Council relating to the streamlining of development assessment processes and as Council’s representative working with State Government planners undertaking assessment of development projects within Priority Development Areas (PDAs) across the City.
Christine’s role at Urban Strategies involves the daily management of complex planning projects requiring extensive knowledge of relevant planning legislation. Working closely with the directors of the company, Christine produces detailed and high-quality planning investigations and development assessment reports and coordinates multi-disciplinary specialist consultant teams. Her direct yet personable manner of communication underpins all interactions with clients, specialist consultants and professional officers in Local and State Government roles. At all times she strives for excellent planning outcomes that satisfy the development briefs of our clients.
Christine has contributed to the successful gaining of approvals for a wide variety of development projects (including small, medium and large scale residential, commercial, industrial, community and mixed use developments) through Queensland’s varied planning processes, including through Local Governments, Economic Development Queensland (PDAs) and State Ministerial Infrastructure Designations.
